Country Lavender Farm

There is only one lavender farm in Nebraska and it is approximately 2 miles north of Hampton. Kevin Klawonn owns the farm and his wife Mim operates the lavender producing and making of lavender products. The farm has several rows of lavender planted and it is a beautiful country site to view.

The farm also has a gift shop located in an old home on the farm Kevin grew up in. Mim makes several different products for sale such as lotions, soaps, eye masks, lavender filled key chains to help with road rage, freezer packs for children and several other products. Lavender is used for several purposes such as therapy and relaxation. Lavender can also be eaten and is often used as a spice, salt or sugar.

Hours through the summer are Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 1-4pm. If you have an available weekend afternoon, be sure and make a trip to Hampton and visit the Country Lavender Farm, it is worth the drive.

Ashland, Nebraska

Ashland, Nebraska is the “Tourism Capital of Nebraska.”  There is plenty to see and do in and around the town.  Ashland is within four miles of some of Nebraska’s greatest tourist attractions including Mahoney State Park!

Grant county was named after president Ulysses S. Grant. Long ago the county located in the sandhills of Nebraska was a great hideaway spot for outlaws and fugitives. Today, the county has more cattle per square mile than any other county in the United States.

The Quilt Basket

The Quilt Basket in York has a wide selection of fabric for all kinds of creators. I was shocked at the amount of variety in fabrics. They have several prints for holidays such as 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas. If you need some fabric for a children’s quilt, you want to make a stop. The selection is overwhelming and I wanted to purchase the whole store. Also, once you meet purchasing $500 in products from their store, you will receive $25 of free products. Therefore, it pays to shop at The Quilt Basket.
