Some of the businesses include:

Woodland Archery.  Services that are provided: custom arrow building, complete set-up and tuning, custom bow strings by Winners Choice and Octane, Life-time tuning on all new bows sold by Woodland Archery, Professional and experienced service.  Visit their website at: www.woodland-archery.com.

Hastings AquaCourt

Yesterday I spent the day in Hastings, Nebraska. The Hastings Aquacourt is one of the places on the Nebraska Passport. This place is amazing and I wish Lincoln had a fun water park like this one. They have a lazy river, that I floated on about 10 times around. It was extremely relaxing. They also have 4 different slides, I only went down the yellow slide. The best part that I like about all water parks is when they have a wave pool and the Aquacourt has one! It’s not as big as the one at Mahoney, but the waves were just as enjoyable.

This is a great place to bring the whole entire family for a day or just to come hang out with your best friends for a few hours. It is definitely worth driving a few hours to Hastings just to go swimming!

WonderFull Images

This past Saturday at the Haymarket Farmer’s Market in Lincoln, I met a lady by the name of Dana Miller.  She is a photo artist and what stopped me to take a look at her stand were all her sharp images that she has of things and places that have to do with Nebraska.  These photos are amazing, she has some large size photos and what I like the most are her postcards.  I am obsessed with sending my friends and family postcards so I had to put some of her postcards to send to my uncle in Alaska.

James Arthur Vineyards

After going to Branched Oak Farm on Thursday July 12th I went up the road to James Arthur Vineyards in Raymond. I have heard of this vineyard from some of my friends, but this was my first time visiting. The place is beautiful and I really liked the white building with a red roof design. There were several other people there for a Thursday, so that should tell you how popular the winery is.

I enjoyed tasting 6 different wines for only $5.00 and I got a free wine glass to take home. The six wines I tasted were: Lucky 13, Nebraska Red, Brianna, Edyn’s Blush, Heartland White and Sweet Charlotte. My favorite was Edyn’s Blush; it is a semi-sweet wine and it is smooth. For a snack I enjoyed some bread with salmon and dill cheese. I like how their bread is served warm and soft. The cheese they serve is made by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dairy Store; it is always great when local business will serve or sell other local items.

If anyone ever needs a good gift for a birthday, wedding or Christmas then I recommend to check out all the gifts they sell. They had so many decorated wine glasses and other gifts that would be perfect for someone who loves wine.

Branched Oak Farm

I took a half day trip out to Raymond, Nebraska on Thursday July 12th. One of the places on my Nebraska Passport is Branched Oak Farm Dairy and Cheese. I should have done my research better, because I went on a day that they are not normally open. However, Krista (one of the owners) was there and took a little time out of her regular routine to tell me a little bit about what their farm produces and sells. She even let me buy some eggs and some quark cheese, which I am told would be good on foods like toast or bagels. When it comes to food, I enjoy trying and making new things all the time and this will be my first time trying some real organic eggs fresh from a farm.

Krista also told me that today (Saturday July 14th) they are having a hog roast. I wish I had the ability to attend, but hopefully this nice family farm will continue to grow and host more events that I can attend.

Overall, I am really impressed by the one owner I met and I know for sure I will be back to buy some more eggs and cheese whenever I need them.

Slattery Vintage Estates

Slattery Vintage Estates is one of the places listed on my Nebraska Passport. I have heard about this place from a few of my friends, so last Saturday I decided to take a little trip and see what this attraction has to offer. This is a winery and as a girl that enjoys wine, I knew I would like this place with all my heart.

The estates are nestled out in the country by Wheeping Water, just a short drive east of Lincoln. One thing I liked is how green the country fields and trees were in the surrounding area. The scenery was everything I enjoy about a day out in the country.

I enjoyed 6 different wines during my tastings and then had myself one full glass of wine. My favorite was the Kid Wade wine from the Outlaw Trail Series. All the wines are made right here in Nebraska, so I feel like I am tasting the goodness of home!

The best part about this winery is the food. I had crackers, salmon and cheese for an appetizer and on some nights like the Saturday night I went they make woodfired grilled pizza. They had 3 different options for a pizza, I had had “The Barbie” which is named after the owner Barb. If you like Chicken Alfredo, then you will love “The Barbie.” The pizza is a great size, It could serve 2-3 people, depending upon how much one person chooses to eat.

This is one place that I would love to go back, especially if I were to have a boyfriend or husband. They have 4 of these cute bungalows that people can rent and stay in for the night. Each bungalow has a different look on the inside, but a fairly similar. These bungalows are a cross between a tent and a cabin. The only drawback I foresee, is that it was really hot the night I went, so I don’t know how I would feel about sleeping outside when it is super hot, I feel like possbily May or September would be better months to stay in the bungalows.

Overall, I highly recommend this place, the whole entire place is gorgeous, the food is great and the staff is exceptionally friendly. My server was Caitlin and the other staff members there were very friendly and persistant at asking me if I needed anything or if they could help me with anything.

I give this place two thumbs up and recommend everyone make this place a priority to visit in the near future.

Nebraska Passport

I have decided to start traveling to and visiting some of the places that are in the 2012 Nebraska Passport and the Nebraska Wine Passport from the Department of Travel and Tourism. There are a lot of people that say there is nothing to do in Nebraska, well I believe that is said by people who do not take the time to enjoy the simple things and places we have here. Each town in Nebraska has their own story and has something great to offer, whether it is a couple nights stay or just a few hours, there are things to do. Stay tuned to more posts on the places I visit, the people I meet and things I get to experience. After all, it is the simple things in life that mean the most!
