It has been a while…

Life has been a little busy for me lately and I have not had time to sit and type on my computer.

I got done with a three week summer class a couple weeks ago and since then I have been traveling a lot for my job with Nebraska Lottery!  We have been to Omaha, North Platte and Duncan, Nebraska.  This weekend we will be working fourth of July celebration in Seward, Nebraska.

I also just moved into a duplex with three other girls and I am loving it!  Things in life are surely looking up and I can only see more good things coming my way (at least I hope!)

I am currently taking an online summer class and my first paper is due by tomorrow night so I’m spending most of today trying to finish writing it so I can turn it in and have it done.

I need to do better at updating my blog, I believe I will start keeping a journal while I am on the road with my job and then when I get to a computer I can just type them all up.

Have a great rest of the week and and great 4th of July!

Learning to cooking

I added a new adventure to my life: COOKING!

I am beginning to learn how to cook and bake delicious recipes.  I believe at the same time it is teaching me not to eat out as much because the more I can learn how to cook and make a recipe makes me happy for the ability to complete the process.

Last week I made homemade monster cookies and tried a simple s’mores recipe from Family Circle.

This week I plan on trying an easy enchilada recipe and a chocolate cake recipe.

If anyone has a good ideas for something I should learn to make then please give them to me.

Having a Good Work Ethic

These past couple of years between my jobs and school, I have learned a great deal on what it means to have a good and hard work ethic.

Here are few things I have learned about having a good work ethic.

1.  Don’t ever be late-  Things have to be done, in any kind of work place and some people do not have a lifetime to wait.  When there are deadlines to be met then they need to be done.  There are no excuses for things to be done, there are only fingers to be pointed when things are not done on time and those fingers will be pointed at the one responsible for getting it done.  It amazes me that people spend more time in a day coming up with an excuse of why something is not done on time, when it would take less time just to do the work.   The smart thing to do is to get it done and get it done early.  This also goes for being on time, when you are told to be somewhere then be there on time.  I am always an early person, I tend to show up about five to ten minutes before I am scheduled to be somewhere.  A boss of mine once told me that “if you are ON TIME, then you are already late.”  Again, unless of extreme circumstances and things that you can not handle then there are no other excuses for being LATE.

2. Plan, Plan and Plan-  Always plan ahead, it is always better to be safe then sorry.  An old saying is “what you don’t get done today, someone is getting done right now.”  Plan ahead and plan in advance, don’t ever wait til the last minute.  Things always seem to be more complicated when you wait til the last minute because not everything will get done.  Time is of the essence and the sooner you begin on a project, the more time you may have will give you more time to change things before a due date.

3.  Be Creative-  In just about any job a person may, a good creative mind is the key to success.  Don’t stress, if you may not have a creative mind, it is alright to ask for help from others to do things and get insights from.  Ideas bounce off of others and I think we can all agree.  Learn to work with others, but don’t ever let others steal your ideas.

4.  Don’t trust others-  Be careful about what you say to others and be careful about sharing your ideas.  As I have said some people may steal ideas.  You never know who, so it is always good to just keep somethings to yourself until you are ready to share you ideas because everything else is already planned.

***I am not saying that just because I follow these tips that I am the best worker ever, but these are few things I believe that help others to have a good hard work ethic in not only life, but the workplace as well.  Afterall, what we achieve today will lead to successes in the future!***

Snacks for Studying

I enjoy a lot of kinds of foods, but there are a few foods and beverages that always help get me through to help me focus on studying for tests:

1.  Fruit Punch

2.  Dr. Pepper

3.  Special K Crackers

4.  Goldfish

5.  Orange Jello

Try these sometime while you are studying… they will help give you a little boost of energy.

Trying to study for finals…

Studying for finals is a hard to stay concentrated on.

Here are some of my study breaks I seem to have:

1. Phone chat with a friend.

2. Online chat with a friend.

3.  Go for a little drive in the car.

4.  Cleaning

5.  Take a bath

6.  Listen to music and dance

7.  Go rollerblading

8.  Organize and plan my summer

9.  Wander around campus

10.  Take a long nap

I pretty much thing I can be productive at anything else in life, besides studying.

When my dreams come true…

It was said once on One Tree Hill:  “When all your dreams come true, who is standing next to you?”

It is starting to hit me that I am at the age where I am entering the real world.  A majority of my friends that I grew up with in Lincoln are graduating college and getting jobs else where.  I have a number of friends that I have met in college that are graduating and moving back to home states.  Yes, it is depressing.  Have I cried about it: YES.

I don’t think that people ever grow apart from each other, we all just learn that some point in life we grow and begin the rest of our lives.  When my friends and I graduated high school there were some of us that stayed here in Lincoln and others that went to out of state schools.  However, the one thing that kept us together was coming back home to Lincoln.  Now all I am hoping for is that the University of Nebraska brings my college friends coming back to visit.

I am learning that this is not goodbye; this is see ya later because we are all going on to do bigger and better things with our lives.  It is our time now to change the world for the better and make a difference while we are at it.  It is our time to grow up, get married, have children, buy a house and operate a family.

I just pray that I do not lose connection with all my friends.  I want them to be by my side when all my dreams really do come true.

My favorite advertising commercial

I have enjoyed the seeing the E-trade baby commercials ever since the first time I saw one on television.  The talking baby adds a well-thought about character to promote an investment company and that is a change compared to other investment company promotions.  I think the creators have the intention that if a baby can use E-trade, then adults can use the company as well.  The different themes in using the baby makes viewers, like myself, wanting to see the next commercial the company will produce.  One way I believe it is effective is because, it is creative and has a good sense of humor.
