Bike Ride Across Nebraska began yesterday in Kimball. Follow the hundreds of bicycle riders as they make the trek across the state of Nebraska all week. See if they stop in your town this week and if they do, I recommend to cheer on these ambitious bikers.

I can feel the heat of summertime already and I am really excited. There are so many events going on this summer it is hard to keep track of them all. This weekend Celebrate Lincoln begins today and goes on tomorrow (Saturday June 1st). Montgomery Gentry will be performing downtown Lincoln Saturday as part of the event.
Taste of Omaha begins today and runs through Sunday. This has always been one of my favorite events, it sits right along the riverfront and the downtown park in Omaha. This is a great family event; plenty of food, vendors and entertainment.

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year! It is also the time of year that businesses make a lot of money. Everyday in December I would like to feature a small business, event or festival in Nebraska. If you know of any that you would like me to feature, please contact me.
1. Petting Zoo for the family and kids of all ages.
2. The Parade was dedicated to the veterans of Nebraska and it was Veterans day at the fair.
3. Nebraska Lottery Spin N’ Wheel.
4. Smoked turkey legs, it is a state fair must.
5. The swine barn filled with lots of cute pigs from all over the state.
It was a great year at the Nebraska State Fair! I know I will be coming back next year and I hope everyone else will take some time to come enjoy time at the fair with me!
1. You could enjoy a funnel or you could have some fried Girl Scout Cookies from King’s Funnel Kings! The Caramel Delights fried will taste like heaven for you!
2. Talk a walk through the cattle barn and see plenty of cows from all over the state there are plenty to see from calves to big steers.
3. The Budweiser Clydesdales are here at the state fair and you can register to get a free 6-pack.
4. Put your name in a drawing to win a Ford Escape from Ford.
5. What is a state fair without country music? Last night Billy Currington bought good country music to Nebraska with his concert!
1. The Quilt Exhibit where you can see hundreds of quilts made by people from all over the state.
2. The Trio Studio played polka songs!
3. The Fray put on an awesome concert!
4. Pig In The Bag makes really delicious nachos, it is a must have at the fair.
5. Sign the petition for the farm bill with the Nebraska Corn Board inside of the exhibition building.
1. Nitro Ice Cream. The ice cream is cold and creamy, taste similar to custard but better. It is located in the exhibition building.
2. The Tiger Show. Check out 7 tigers putting on a show and you can stop by and see them in their cage all day long.
3. The Girl Scouts have free samples of their cookies in the commercial 4-H building.
4. Want a state fair souvenir, T-shirt, sweatshirt or something else? Then be sure and stop by the official State Fair Store.
5. My favorite marching band today was Bruining-Davenport they did an awesome job marching and an even better job with playing their songs. They bought a lot of life to the fair this morning and got my attention.
1. The Grow Nebraska Store is set up in the exhibition building so fair attendees can stop by and purchase some made from Nebraska items.
2. Check out over a thousand of 4-H exhibits in the commercial building.
3. A great treat to have at the fair is Dippin’ Dots. If you have never had it then you are missing out.
4. Nebraska Public Power District has a power station where you can learn all about electricity and safety of being around electricity. They also have demonstrations that kids will be amazed by what they learn.
5. The Gatling Brothers put on two shows today as part of being “Older Nebraskans Day at the Fair.”
1. Take a ride on a combine, whether you want to test ride or just ride one for fun, Case IH provides everyone the chance to ride a combine for free.
2. See some Sea Lions perform. The sea lions come all the way from California and if you want to you can get a picture of one them kissing you on the cheek.
3. The Slush Factory where you can get a slushy in a really cute cup. You can choose from a variety of flavors but my two favorites are lemonade and orange.
4. Nebraska Beekeepers Association. You can learn all about and see some actual live bees.
5. Play trivia with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Test your knowledge and see how much you know about the agriculture in Nebraska. Their booth is in the Exhibition building.
