Great Views and Tasty Wine

I have always loved a good country scene, it is always beautiful and peaceful. I went to Miletta Vista Winery this last Saturday. Not only do they have great wine, but they have excellent views of the country. The hills with a creek splitting them just reminds you of something you see on a travel show.

Miletta Vista is a short drive north of Grand Island near St. Paul, Nebraska. I recommend going for dinner, because the food is home cooked and simply delicious. If you are like me and drink dry wine, I would recommend a glass of the St. Croix. They also have a selection of semi-sweet wines as well.

Nebraska Coffee Shops

A good majority of us love a good cup of joe and a nice little hang out spot with some friends. Here is a list of the 10 best coffee shops in Nebraska
10. Bean Broker Coffee House- An upbeat very unique Coffee House in Chadron. A great place for college students to study and also hear some music from artists.
9. Newberry’s- A small town find on the bricks in Alliance. Catch up with your friends while enjoying a warm cup of coffee and an enjoyable atmosphere.

8. Art Bar- Inspired by Marla Rae, this exciting and fun coffee shop is in Hastings! Not only can you enjoy a good tasting latte, but you can check out of the fantastic art by Marla Rae.

7. Fala’s Treasures and Coffeehouse- If you love to spend your Saturdays with a good cup of coffee and some shopping, then you will want to make a trip to Elkhorn. Not only can you get some coffee, but you also shop for some great home decor and gift items as well!

6. Cappuccino and Company- The next time you find yourself out Scottsbluff on the Oregon Trail route, be sure and stop in. Start off your morning with nice warm cup of hot joe and enjoy the scenery!

5. Dragonfly Coffee House- Located in Milford, this is a great coffeehouse for coffee lovers and even non-coffee drinkers. They have a wide variety and even selections for the non-coffee drinkers.

4. Treasured Grounds- Small town, great people and even better service in Hemingford. It may be small, but they have a great selection of coffee flavors. You can get a cup to go or stop, stay, have some breakfast and chat with your friends.

3. The Coffee Corner- In the downtown of the “Toughest Town on the Tracks,” you will find a cozy coffee house. I could spend hours at The Coffee Corner in Sidney, just drinking an iced latte, blogging and reading a good book.

2. Located in Holdrege, you will want to make it a daily priority to stop by 4th Avenue Coffee for your caffeinated beverage. Enjoy a tasty pastry for breakfast or an afternoon snack. The next time you are traveling through, be sure to make it a point to stop.

1. In the heart of Seward’s downtown square, you will find JD’s Coffee Shop. Great service and great coffee would be an understatement, all I have to say is you need to stop and check it out yourself. The first time I went in, I got so many coffee vibes instantly and I can’t wait to go back!

Kimball Bakery

At some small town bakeries, you walk in get your donut and leave. The Kimball Bakery in Kimball, Nebraska is different. They have tables, inviting their guest to sit, stay, enjoy your donut for a while. I really enjoyed this idea, then I didn’t have to worry about making a mess while trying to eat my donut in the car.
The Kimball Bakery opened in 1941 and is currently owned by Kimball native, Bob Hinton. The day starts early with donuts being made at 2am. All donuts are made from scratch which made them taste much better than other bakeries.
Not only does the bakery make donuts, they also make fresh hamburger and hot dog buns as well. The day before 4th of July, owner Bon Hinton said he made about 1,400 fresh buns. I was able to enjoy the fresh taste of one and I recommend eating them with a sloppy joe.
Make sure and stop by the Kimball Bakery when you are traveling in Western Nebraska. I can’t wait to go back and have another zombie donut.
