Christmas is a wonderful time of the year! It is also the time of year that businesses make a lot of money. Everyday in December I would like to feature a small business, event or festival in Nebraska. If you know of any that you would like me to feature, please contact me.
The other day while I was unpacking my stuff into my new apartment I came across my candles I got at Heritage Falls Candles in Falls City, Nebraska.
The shop is located in downtown of Falls City and sells more than just candles, I also picked up a couple of cute decorative pumpkins for the fall season. I hope I have time to go back and visit before Christmas because they had a ton of cute Christmas decorations for the house.
If anyone is ever looking for a good fundraiser then I suggest to give Heritage Falls a call, they do let you sell their candles for fundraiser purposes and candles make a perfect thing to sell because people always want them like cookies.
If you are ever near Falls City, make a stop at Heritage Falls. You will definitely like the scents as much as I love them.
My dad is a history teacher and ever since I was little I have always loved history, especially Nebraska history and learning about the Oregon Trail. Yesterday, while I was in Scottsbluff I decided to stop by Scottsbluff National Monument. There is so much history in the place about how the pioneers and would use the rocks as a landmark and stopping place along the Oregon Trail. In the visitor center you can view a short video that tells you all about the national monumentand walk a mile long trail while dialing in on your phone to hear a guided tour about the pioneers journey. You can also either hike up or drive up to the top of the rocks and overlook the city of Scottsbluff and countryside of Nebraska and Wyoming for miles. I know I enjoyed myself yesterday and plan on going back soon to enjoy a sunny day on the Oregon Trail!
Back in August after I visited the Platte River State Park, I saw a sign for Cellar 426 winery in Ashland. Not having anything to do that afternoon, I decided to stop and enjoy a wine tasting.
The winery is brand new and just opened back in May of this year. The newly built building made the wining tasting a little more exciting, it’s kind of like the feel of getting to drive a brand new car. The structure, design and feel of the place made feel as if I was drinking wine in a cabin in Colorado (the only thing that was missing was mountains). I didn’t know what to expect first walking in, but there were a lot of people.
All the wines and labels have a signature look, which as an advertising graduate I believe is great for having a strong brand name. The look is more modern than other wineries I have been, I like their use of colors as well, colors always put me in a cheerful mood and when you are cheerful and drinking wine then it makes life feel great. My favorite wine was Lacrosse, which I had to buy a bottle to bring home, so if you make it to this winery then I recommend you try some.
I wish many joys to the owners of Cellar 426 and I foresee them doing many great things in the future of building the winery name in Nebraska. If you have never been to this winery yet but live near Ashland then I recommend you visit within the next month.
I am sorry that I have been a little out of commission and have not blogged lately on the places I have visited. I was recently offered a job in Sidney, Nebraska at Cabela’s and I start on Monday the 24th so I am working on moving. I promise to get my other blogs posted as soon as I can, even if I must pull an all nighter. Thank-you for your continue support and I look forward to producing more good stories soon!
