Lincoln Symphony Orchestra Presents Beethoven’s 4 & 7

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for their Classicalperformance, Beethoven 4 & 7 on April 13th at 7:30 p.m.

Music Director Edward Polochick will lead the LSO in a pairing of two Beethoven symphonies—his fourth and seventh. This program is the third installment of LSO’s five-year Beethoven cycle, leading up to Beethoven’s 250th birthday in 2020.

“I’m thrilled to be embarking upon these two symphonies with the LSO,” says Polochick. “Beethoven’s music is fantastic for both building your orchestra, and delighting audiences. I’m so proud of the work the LSO has done throughout this cycle so far. Beethoven’s music is a wonderful challenge, and our orchestra always rises to the occasion.”

The evening will begin with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4.

“The Fourth is a wonderful look at the Classical-era side of Beethoven,” says Polochick. “It’s a joyous, beautiful work that helps pave the way for the Seventh symphony, as they both have a similar energy. The Fourth isn’t performed as often as his other symphonies, so it’s exciting to be presenting it to our audience.”

After intermission, the orchestra will play Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

“This is such a youthful, exuberant symphony, with similar energy as the Fourth, but on a much grander scale. It’s definitely the more Romantic-era side of Beethoven,” says Polochick. “I find this pairing of works to be stunning, as you get to experience the different sides of Beethoven that go so well together. In addition, putting a lesser known work of his with one of his most popular makes for a very exciting evening.”

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at http://www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476‑2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).

NET Radio’s Genevieve Randall will host a pre-concert chat at 6:45 p.m. the evening of the concert in the Steinhart Room with Maestro Polochick. LSO’s preconcert chats are supported in part by Humanities Nebraska, and Mattson Ricketts.

To stay current with symphony events, follow Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter – and don’t forget to use #LSOlove while visiting the free JamesAnn Photography photo booth during intermission.

In an effort to make all LSO concerts financially accessible, LSO’s tickets are available for only $15 or $35 each for adults, inclusive of all ticketing and facility fees. Tickets for youth ages 17 and under are available for $5 each, made possible by the Lienemann Charitable Foundation.

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s 2018-2019 season sponsors are Immanuel Communities and Union Bank & Trust. The concert sponsor for “Beethoven 4 & 7” is First National Bank. The Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment also provided generous support toward Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s 2018-2019 season.
