Grant county was named after president Ulysses S. Grant. Long ago the county located in the sandhills of Nebraska was a great hideaway spot for outlaws and fugitives. Today, the county has more cattle per square mile than any other county in the United States.

The Quilt Basket

The Quilt Basket in York has a wide selection of fabric for all kinds of creators. I was shocked at the amount of variety in fabrics. They have several prints for holidays such as 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas. If you need some fabric for a children’s quilt, you want to make a stop. The selection is overwhelming and I wanted to purchase the whole store. Also, once you meet purchasing $500 in products from their store, you will receive $25 of free products. Therefore, it pays to shop at The Quilt Basket.

Cherry County

Cherry County is the largest county (land wise) in Nebraska. The county is bordered by 11 other counties in Nebraska and South Dakota.

Platte Valley Creamery

If you love ice cream, then you will enjoy the homemade ice cream from The Platte Valley Creamery in Scottsbluff. The staff make sure that your ice cream is fresh and delicious. I had a peanut butter and chocolate malt, but if you would rather have a cone or a sundae then you can as well. Ice cream is good anytime if the year, so be sure to stop in and get your fixing!

Treasured Grounds

Treasured Grounds is a coffee shop in Hemingford, Nebraska. Not only do they serve coffee, but they have breakfast and lunch as well. I enjoy the Caramel Marshmallow Latte and a breakfast burrito. They have daily specials and can make a variety of latte flavors. However, if you just prefer plain black coffee then Treasured Grounds is where you want to stop before you go to work. Stay awhile and enjoy your breakfast or you can get it to go if you are in a hurry.

Treasured Grounds is open Monday through Friday 6:30am-3:00pm.

The Potter Sundry

The Potter Sundry in Potter, Nebraska is a small town cafe with an old fashioned soda fountain. It’s a cozy atmosphere to enjoy a good morning breakfast. The Sundry also serves lunch and if you save your appetite be sure to try a Tin Roof Sundae. The Tin Roof Sundae is a layer of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, then a layer of chocolate ice cream with marshmallow and topped off with peanuts. Open Mondays-Saturdays 7am-5pm, this is a great place to enjoy some good food. I hope everyone will take some time to visit The Potter Sundry and see that it’s a unique place.
